Garcia White

On Tuesday, October 1, 2024, Garcia Glen White was executed by the state of Texas.  He was pronounced dead at 6:56 pm local time, inside the Walls Unit execution chamber at the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas.  Garcia was 61 years of age.  He was executed for the murders of twin 16-year-olds, Bernette and Annette Edwards, on December 2, 1989, in Houston, Texas.  Garcia also killed their mother, Bonita.  Garcia spent the last 28 years of his life on Texas’ death row.

Garcia had graduated from high school and went on to play football in college.  During his first year of college, he sustained a knee injury that caused him to drop out.  Garcia worked as a fry cook, house painter, and sandblaster before his arrest.  He also became addicted to drugs after leaving college.

On November 29, 1989, Garcia White went to the home of Bonita Edwards, intending to smoke crack cocaine with her.  White and Bonita got into an argument, which resulted in White stabbing Bonita several times.  Bernette and Annette, Bonita’s twin daughters, came out from their bedroom to see what was happening.  Each was also stabbed several times.  Evidence showed that both girls were also sexually assaulted.  All three died from their injuries.  Their bodies were discovered on December 2, 1989, by Bonita’s boyfriend.  Their deaths remained unsolved for several years.

On July 21, 1995, White was arrested for the murder of a convenience store clerk that had occurred eight days earlier, on July 13, 1995.  During the police investigation, they received information that White was involved in the Edwards’ murders, in addition to another murder that occurred in November of 1989.  White eventually confessed to the crime and was sentenced to death in 1996.

Please pray for peace and healing for the family of Bonita, Bernette, and Annette Edwards.  Pray for all those affected by Garcia White’s crimes.  Please pray for strength for Garcia’s family.
