DAY 208: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR

Today we continue our journey through the book of Proverbs. The book of wisdom was compiled by Solomon, the wisest man who has ever lived.

Pray for God’s understanding of Proverbs 13. Read Proverbs 13. Let’s journey!

ProverbsKing Solomon, son of King David, is believed to be the wisest man who ever lived, with the exception of Jesus Christ. King Solomon is the author of most of the book of Proverbs, which means wisdom. Solomon, upon being crowned king, was offered a gift from the Lord. Already showing wisdom, Solomon asked that the Lord bestow upon him wisdom to rule wisely. Wisdom is about how to live in a way that honors God and all wisdom comes from the Lord.

Proverbs 13: Today’s reading instructs on many aspects of human conduct and the result of that conduct. It instructs on laziness, prudence, and among many other practices, that of disciplining your child(ren). Read the 25 verses of Proverbs 13 and examine yourself by them. Are your actions those of a wise person or an unwise person? (Proverbs 13:1-25)

Following today’s reading, take some time and meditate on a piece of wisdom that stood out to you. Consider why you are drawn to that piece of wisdom. Does it go against what the secular world teaches? What is God trying to teach you through this piece of wisdom? How can that wisdom be applied to your life?
