DAY 313: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR
Today, we continue our journey through the book of Ecclesiastes and finding meaning in life.
Ask the Lord for His understanding of Ecclesiastes 5-6. Read Ecclesiastes 5-6. Let’s journey!
It is not known for certain who wrote the book of Ecclesiastes, however, many believe it to be King Solomon. The book of Ecclesiastes looks for the meaning of life and warns that we should be careful of what we try and use to find meaning in life. Life is temporary and fleeting, with its pleasure short-lived. The book sets out to answer the question of how we should live our life?
Ecclesiastes 5-6: Solomon addresses the importance of your attitude towards the Lord and the importance of fulfilling your vows. The remainder of today’s reading focuses on wealth and happiness. Wealth alone cannot bring happiness. Wealth, and obsession with it, can lead us away from a life of meaning – for life will only revolve around how to obtain more money. (Ecclesiastes 5:1-6:12)
After concluding today’s reading, consider the following: What wisdom does the book offer about how to live life? What does the author try to find meaning in life? What is the result? How have you tried to find meaning in your life? What have you learned?
