Focus Verses For Today: Ecclesiastes 10:6-7

Today, we continue our journey through the book of Ecclesiastes and finding meaning in life.

Ask the Lord for His understanding of Ecclesiastes 9-10. Read Ecclesiastes 9-10. Let’s journey!

EcclesiastesEcclesiastes 9-10: In today’s journey, Solomon begins his conclusion to the study of finding meaning in life. He reflects that all life ends the same, regardless of actions. We should celebrate being alive. It is better to be wise than to be foolish, strong, or anything else. Life is not always fair, with wisdom often going unrewarded. Wisdom is demonstrated in many ways, including the ability to control our speech. (Ecclesiastes 9:1-10:20)

Our focus verses for today:

6Fools are put in many high positions,
while the rich occupy the low ones.
7I have seen slaves on horseback,
while princes go on foot like slaves.
(Ecclesiastes 10:6-7, NIV)

Solomon spends a great deal of time comparing wisdom and folly. In today’s focus verses, Solomon notes that people are frequently put into positions for which they are not qualified. Not much has changed since the days of King Solomon. We still live in a world that is based on folly, a world that is not based on following the Lord and His instructions. Consider the consequences of putting unqualified people into positions of power. Now look at your own life. In what positions have you placed people in your own life? Are they qualified for those positions? Are you surrounded by wise men or fools?
