Edgar TamayoEdgar Arias Tamayo was executed by the state of Texas on January 22, 2014. He was pronounced dead at 9:32 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Walls Unit of the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. Edgar was 46 years of age and was executed for the murder of 24-year-old Police Officer Guy P. Gaddis on January 31, 1994, in Houston, Texas. Officer Gaddis had arrested Edgar for robbery. Edgar was a foreign national from Mexico and in the United States illegally. He spent the last 19 years of his life on Texas’ death row.

Edgar had a relatively normal childhood, and, according to his parents, did not lack food or shelter. Edgar worked as a laborer before being arrested. He previously served time for armed robbery in California.
