Michael Shane Worthington was executed by the state of Missouri on August 6, 2014. He was pronounced dead at 12:11 am CDT, inside the execution chamber of the Eastern Reception, Diagnostic, and Corrections Center in Bonne Terre, Missouri. Michael was 43 years of age. He was executed for the robbery, rape, and murder of 24-year-old Melinda “Mindy” Griffin on September 30, 1995, inside Mindy’s Lake St. Louis, Missouri apartment.

Michael was abused and neglected as a child. Michael became dependent on drugs and alcohol and was drinking heavily and taking drugs the night of the murder. Before his murder, Michael worked at a local supermarket.
