Mississippi executed Benny Joe Stevens on May 10, 2011. Benny was pronounced dead at 6:22 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. Benny was 52 years of age and convicted of several murders. He murdered his 38-year-old ex-wife Glenda Reid; her new husband 38-year-old Wesley Lee Reid; Glenda’s 11-year-old stepson Dylan Lee; and Dylan’s friend 12-year-old Heath Pounds.  The murders occurred on October 18, 1998, in Foxworth, Mississippi. Benny also shot his and Glenda’s 16-year-old daughter, Erica. Erica survived her injuries. For the last 12 years of his life, Benny was on Mississippi’s death row.

Benny was allegedly depressed and abused drugs and alcohol.
