Milton MathisThe state of Texas carried out the execution of Milton Wuzael Mathis on June 21, 2011. He was pronounced dead at 6:53 pm local time, inside the Walls Unit execution chamber at the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. Milton was 32 years of age. He was executed for the murder of 24-year-old Travis Brown III and 31-year-old Daniel Hibbard on December 15, 1998, in Fort Bend County, Texas. Milton also shot 15-year-old Melanie Almaguer, who survived but became permanently paralyzed from the neck down. Milton also attempted to shoot two others and set fire to the house which all were in at the time. For the last 12 years of his life, Milton was on Texas’ death row.

Milton dropped out of school after the 8th grade and worked as a cook, mechanic’s helper, and laborer before his arrest. Milton abused alcohol and drugs as a teenager.

Please pray for peace and healing for the families of Daniel Hibbard and Travis Brown. Pray for peace and healing for Melanie Almaguer and any others affected by the actions of Milton. Please pray for the family of Milton. Milton expressed his belief in God as part of his last words.
