Rodney Gray Executed in Mississippi

The state of Mississippi carried out the execution of Rodney Gray on May 17, 2011. Rodney was pronounced dead at 6:12 pm local time inside the execution chamber at the Mississippi State Penitentiary in Parchman, Mississippi. Rodney was 38 years of age. He was executed for the kidnapping, rape, robbery, and murder of 79-year-old Grace Blackwell on August 15, 1994, in Jasper County, Mississippi. Rodney spent the last 15 years of his life on Mississippi’s death row.

Rodney grew up in poverty and had low grades in school. According to his mother, Rodney struggled to hold down a job for most of his life.  He also had impulse behavioral problems.
