Focus Verses For Today: Luke 21:1-4

Today’s journey through Luke takes us to Jesus being captured and presented to Pilate.

Ask God for His understanding of Luke 21-22. Read Luke 21-22. Let’s journey!

LukeLuke 21-22: Our journey today begins with the story of the Widow’s Offering, the subject of our focus verses. It continues with Jesus revealing the sign of His return to the apostles. Luke 22 depicts the Last Supper, Jesus’ capture by temple guards, and His presentation to the Sanhedrin. (Luke 21:1-22:71)

Our focus verses:

As Jesus looked up, he saw the rich putting their gifts into the temple treasury. 2 He also saw a poor widow put in two very small copper coins. 3 “Truly I tell you,” he said, “this poor widow has put in more than all the others. 4 All these people gave their gifts out of their wealth; but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
(Luke 21:1-4, NIV)

Our focus verse for today tells the story of the Widow’s Offering. It may be looked at as an example of giving. In fact, it is more, it is an example of living. The widow was 100 percent committed to following Jesus. She held nothing back. She was all in,

“…but she out of her poverty put in all she had to live on.”
(Luke 21:4b)

She placed her life in Jesus’ hands. “ Are you all in for Jesus? Are you holding back?
