The state of Texas carried out the execution of Robert Wayne Harris on September 20, 2012. Robert was pronounced dead at 6:43 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Walls Unit of the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. Robert was 40 years of age. He was convicted and executed for the murder of his former co-workers during a robbery on March 20, 2000, in Irving, Texas. The victims were identified as 48-year-old Dennis Lee, 36-year-old Agustin Villasenor, 46-year-old Rhoda Wheeler, 32-year-old Benjamin Villasenor, and 15-year-old Roberto JimenezJr. A sixth employee was also shot but survived his injuries. Robert was fired four days before the murders for exposing himself to a customer. For the last 12 years of his life, Robert was on death row in Texas.
Robert had previously been convicted of several robberies and served time for his crimes. After his arrest, Robert also confessed to the November 1999 murder of Sandra Scott. He was charged, but not tried for that crime. During his childhood, Robert attended special education classes for emotionally disturbed children. Robert was known as violent and aggressive, traits that continued into adulthood. As a teenager, Robert began dealing drugs. Robert attended school through the 9th grade.
