Jerry JacksonThe state of Virginia executed Jerry Terrell Jackson on August 18, 2011. Jerry was pronounced dead at 9:14 pm local time, inside the execution chamber at the Greenville Correctional Center in Jarratt, Virginia. Jerry was 30 years of age. He was convicted and executed for the rape, murder, and robbery of 88-year-old Ruth Phillips on August 26, 2001, in her Williamsburg, Virginia home.  Jerry spent the last eight years of his life on death row in Virginia.

As a child, Jerry was abused physically, psychologically, and sexually. Jerry’s parents were divorced and he lived with his mother and stepfather for much of his childhood. As a child, he was diagnosed with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder and depression. Jerry would frequently act out at school and was eventually placed in a special school.
