Cary KerrTexas carried out the execution of Cary D. Kerr on May 3, 2011. Cary was pronounced dead at 6:19 pm local time inside the Walls Unit execution chamber at the Huntsville State Penitentiary in Huntsville, Texas. Cary was 46 years of age. He was executed for the rape and murder of 34-year-old Pamela Horton on July 12, 2001, in Fort Worth, Texas. Cary spent the last eight years of his life on Texas’ death row.

Cary dropped out of high school after the 10th grade. Prior to his arrest, he worked in a warehouse, as a mechanic, and as a laborer. Cary had previously been sentenced to one year in prison for assault in 1999. He was also known to have been physically abusive in previous relationships. Cary was also an alcoholic, as were his parents. His grandfather introduced him to alcohol around the age of 10. As a child, he was sexually assaulted and physically abused. He was kicked out of the house by his father and stepmother as a teenager.
