DAY 032: JOURNEY THROUGH THE BIBLE IN A YEAR

As we continue our journey today through Psalms, we see King David’s faith in the Lord.

Take a moment before you begin today’s journey and read Psalms 12-14, seeking God’s perfect understanding of His word in prayer.

PsalmsIn the first book of Psalms, the majority of the Psalms are written by King David. Throughout the book of Psalms, nearly every psalm can be classified as a psalm of Lament or a psalm of praise. A lament is a cry to the Lord, asking Him to do something, most often when we are in pain, confused, or angry. A psalm of praise is a prayer of joy and celebration, thanking the Lord for His work.

Psalms 12-14: Our first two psalms today were written by King David. King David prays to the Lord, expressing his deepest feelings to the Lord, the only person he can trust. When the pressures of the world become too much for King David, he turns to the Lord. Even though David feels the Lord has stopped responding, David remains trusting in the Lord, knowing God has always been good to him. Psalm 14, speaks of evildoers frustrating the ways of the poor and righteous. (Psalms 12:1-14:7)

Read chapters 12 through 14 and ask yourself these questions: Are these psalms of lament or praise? How do you know? What deeper understanding of David is provided through these psalms? Take a moment and offer at least one praise and one lament from your own life.
